I had dyed my hair a soft black (itsnot jet black, it more of a black with a hint of dark brown in it) However, i want to take down one level to a dark chocolate brown. Is there anyway of doing this without having to bleach my hair first? ( i would rather not do that as it is very damaging)What is the best at home hair dye to color almost black hair to dark brown? Do not want to bleach it first?
Now I know this sounds crazy, but try using a shampoo In color, Revlon Colorsilk is very inexpensive, also Clairol Balsam! or you can choose a box brand color you like, you must use a light ash blonde!!!!, don't be afraid your hair cannot turn blonde! the mixture is too weak, also having shampoo in the mixture, and NO bleach, will only bring it a shade lighter!, since you have black in your hair, the result will be a beautiful warm brown! put a plastic cap on your hair, using alittle heat will help, try using a blow dryer over the plastic cap, rotating the blower, as not to burn your head! only until your head fells very warm, I suggest 30 min-45 to process, use the conditioner included in the box, and do not rinse out completely! your hair will have a beautiful shine! I am a Hairstylist, and Colorist for years, and I have recommended this to friends, and also used this shade and had beautiful results over black! hope I've helped! Good Luck!!!!!!What is the best at home hair dye to color almost black hair to dark brown? Do not want to bleach it first?
Impossible. You can't put a colour on top of black to achieve lighter hair. Basically it's like a black piece of paper, there's nothing you can paint over it with to get it brown. You'll need to use bleach.
And by the way, bleach isn't that damaging if you take good care of your hair.
