Can you bleach a small section of black hair to a lighter color?

Alright, so i have very black hair. (i just died it about 1 week ago)





My problem is, that i want to bleach the tips of my bangs to a light enough color that i can ad semi-permanent red to it.





Can i just plain bleach it? it doesnt matter if its orange or anything, i just want it to take to the red color...?Can you bleach a small section of black hair to a lighter color?
Dark hair runs in my family. I added bleached highlights and dyed them auburn, they looked great! I bought a pack of hair dye which included an all-over colour and a lightener (4 the highlights). The all-over colour was a medium-dark brown, so that the highlights would turn really dark blonde. It worked! Then I dyed it all over with Auburn. Wow! Looked great, but then the dyes faded and the highlights grew out and I had to get my hair trimmed. :(





Anyway, wash your bangs trying to get the colour to fade. Then add the lightener, leave it on for about 20 minutes or whatever it says on the box. Finally, add the red!

yup. your probably want to go to sallys beauty supply and pick up some devolper(in 30) and powdered bleach just beacuse your hair is freshly died black. Then just mix how it says on the package and apply.now the bleach can take anywhere from 5 to 50 min. to get the color you want, so check it often. and your right, you don't need to have perfect bleach blonde tips to go red, but keep in mind the lighter the bleached color the more vibrant the red. like in my hair i have a red streak on the side, i let the bleach sit untill i got a brassy blonde so my red wasn't neon but was'nt burgandy. Oh and if you already havent bought the red dye you should try manic panic( at hottopic or a bunch of places) they have sooooo many colors and some even glow under black lights! which is always fun at parties and such.=]but goood for you for dying your hair black and wanting red!!! most people get to nervous to actually comit and do it, so very kickasss!
Yeah, My friend who has black hair has done it a few times and put blue in it.





You'll be able to see it lighten affter you've left it on for a bit.. it may just go a light orange, but it will still be light enough for the red dye.
