I use an awesome shampoo and conditioner for my hair type and I don't blow dry or straitend often at all... and when I do I use a quality heat protectant... my hair is probably as healthy as it can be it just isin't as shiny as I would like it to be any product or technique suggestions?Anything I can do to bring the shine back to my jet black hair?
After shampoo and conditioning, always rinse with the coldest water you can stand. Gently towel dry and to your damp hair rub in a tiny amount of a ';leave-in'; anti-frizz hair product (I like V05). This is what the hair models in TV commercials do to get that mirror-like shine.Anything I can do to bring the shine back to my jet black hair?
The amount of shine in hair has nothing to do with haircolor and all haircolors can actually use the same stuff. All you have to do is smooth the cuticle on the hairs. A lot of things can do this, apple cider vinegar, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, castor oil and so on. Not one thing works for everyone so you have to experiment.
I have multicolored hair (naturally) and I use apple cider vinegar as a rinse when I'm about to hop out of the shower. And I rinse with super cold water. Then I let it air dry, which is easier said than done for me because my hair is insanely thick and one length, to my hips/tailbone. So that can take up to an entire day, even though I live in a dry climate. But it's worth it because my hair is obnoxiously healthy.
Hair texture has a lot to do with it as well. Straighter the hair, the more visible the shine will be. My hair is completely straight, so it reflects a lot of light because the overall surface is even. However, curly hair and straight hair will shine a lot, too, just that shorter pieces of hair will shine because they're not all on the same plane.
Again, haircolor has nothing to do with shine. Hair condition, however, does. I don't know who that hairdresser was, but she is incorrect. I have had my hair every natural color under the sun and with good care, they all shined the same.
Some examples I found.

Not recent, but you get the gist.
There are a multitude of shine and gloss products which can give spectacular results on hair, especially black hair which shines the most due to the level of light-reflection.
The GLISS range by Schwarzkopf are amazing, I use them and my hair is black too.
EDIT They don't leave the hair oily at all if you use them correctly and don't over-apply, it's what the professionals use. Forget ';natural hair grease';.
EDIT I can't believe how stupid some people on here are, it's rather humorous.
EDIT Hair colour has EVERYTHING to do with shine, ask your hairdresser, black hair reflects the light to a considerably higher degree than blonde hair, that is a FACT. The condition of the hair is another matter.
what we did when i was a kid was use mayonaise or raw egg.. this worked wonders, but the smell was prohibitive because we used them as moisturizers.. after the shampoo.
you might want to make certain you are eating right, plenty of protein.. and although there is a limit on healthy amounts of fat and oils to eat, that gets it in your system.. and helps like it does with animals and their coats.. make sure you are healthy with your intake...
first off, dont use any kind of serum thats full of silicone. it will make your hair nice at first, but them it will over time (not long!) get dull, sticky and heavy. i made that mistake. i find rinsing my hair in cold water helps the shine. sometimes hair oil is good, but only use a couple drops and dont put any on your scalp!

Good Lucks! ^_^

those products below work but they leave it a little oily looking so try all natural hair grease spread it in. it looks shiny but not oily.
Products can make your hair dryer. So do not believe to those products that can make your hair shiny. Just use baby oils.
put a perminant or semi perminant hair dye through it. it wont change the colour, but it will shine like crazy!
Vaseline.
