Is there any way to lighten black hair without damaging it with bleach?

I've noticed celebrities (ashlee Simpson and Niki Hilton) have dyed their naturally blonde hair black, and then somehow got it back blonde without losing the length, or showing much damage. I have naturally blonde hair that ive been dying black for a couple years, and last time I tried to go back blonde I practically went bald. Is there no other way to lighten the black without damaging bleach? Is there any way to lighten black hair without damaging it with bleach?
they have over the counter dyes now that lighten dark hair without the bleach. they won't go from black to blonde, but they'll lighten black to medium brown. feria has their ';hi-lift browns'; line and garnier 100% color also has some options. i always assumed celebrities just have enough money to hire people to spend like 2 days coloring their hair.Is there any way to lighten black hair without damaging it with bleach?

there is no way to go from black to blond without bleach, color does not remove color. It will damage your hair. alot of Celebrities have hair extensions and personal hair stylists who treat the hair to minimize damage.
