What causes black hair to turn brown when swimming?

i'm a swimmer and i usually train in the afternoons. so is it the sun rays or the chlorine in the pool that bleaches my hair? or the combined effect of both??


because i'm thinking of training at night instead, if it's the sun.





but if it's the pool water, i don't think i'll go into that trouble.

its the chlorine and other chemicals. get some swimmers shampoo to get chlorine and all the other chemicals out. it really helps! ive been swimming for nine years and my hair was dark brown and all my ends turned blonde when i was 6 or 7 and no its light brown with some blonde, and its all from the chlorine and pool water. the sun can make it more blonde cause now i swim indoors and its not as blonde as it was when i was 8. hope i helped ! It's the water, the chlorine (bleach) and the other poo chemicals. Night or day, it does not matter. All you can do is wash the chlorine (and other chemicals) out of your hair with a shampoo when you finish with your swim. If leave the chlorine on your body or in your hair will cause you future damage.
the chemicals that keep the pool 'clean' deteriorate your hair...my hair is naturally black, and after one winter, it was very light brown. that being said, i didnt really take care of it lol..they have shampoos and what not specialized for this kind of situation
Probably both. Usually the sun itself will lighten your hair and the chlorine just adds to it. I have natural brown hair but after the swim season i had light brown hair. And it was an indoor pool haha(:

. the suns uv rays bleaches hair. mines blonde and now its really light. chlorine in pools turn hair green with chemicals. ive been swimming for 10 years :)


you also get tanner which makes hair seem lighter too

its the chlorine because there was a blond girl on my swim team and her hair turned green because of the chlorine
same thing that turns my blonde hair green after a long swim practice.
