What highlights or other colors would go good with black hair?

my hair is a super super dark brown to black, and im tired of it being just one color. i want to add more color to it...but im not sure what colors would look good. i dont want it to be extremely standoutish...just want to add some ';bamnesss'; to it. :]

I think some subtle red highlights would look great. It will look like you've been out in the sun. I don't think blonde highlights *alone* look good with black hair. you can get highlights that are a nice mousy blonde then add a few streaks of a medium warm red tone seen it done- looks fab!!
