How to dye my black hair lighter?

I dyed it about a month ago making it black black black. I'm currently in a different non English speaking country so I don't want to go to a stylist but my mom is visiting in a couple of weeks and is willing to bring me supplies. What would it take to make my hair more of a dark brown instead of black? If you could give me a list of the needed supplies it would be greatly appreciated. If I could get a hint of red in there too that would be great. How to dye my black hair lighter?
There is something you need to understand. ';Dye'; means that you are adding more colour to make something darker. You cannot get anything lighter when you are dyeing fabric or leather. Rarely is dye used on hair, although black is often a dye. Dye and hair colour have different formulas. You cannot remove dyes easily.

If you are talking about lightening hair colour, that is often referred to bleaching. Since you already have ';dye'; in your hair, and it's black (the worst possible of all colours), you cannot bleach your hair without extensive damage. You need to use a special product called ';colour remover'; -- all brands make them. It removes artificial hair colour (not dyes) and will not remove your natural hair colour. Remember that any dye you have used will have bleached your own colour so you don't have any natural left in your hair, only on the regrowth.

After you remove the artificial colour (it will be pretty orange), you will have to use the correct colour you want. Sometimes it will accept colour readily, so it may be darker than expected... use a lighter shade than you think. Of course, you always do strand tests to know what will happen. A qualified professional hair colourist knows how to do this, and has all the necessary products to use on your kind of hair. Buying something sight unseen is a risky business. I would not be able to recommend any product for you without an in-person consultation. How to dye my black hair lighter?
Here is something a little less harsh then bleaching. Baking soda. Get a box and take it to the shower. Form it into a paste and scrub your hair with it. This will lightnen it to a dark brown. NOW very important, your hair will begin to break off in little tiny pieces from the ends if it is not hot oil treated at least once a week for 4 weeks after you do this.
your mom goes to a hair salon and buys there bleach for taking colour out of hair. she must buy it in salon only, cos nothing else will wash out totally black dye. then u may take a very good and long look at your hair and say good bye to them. cos after bleaching black dye out your hair will look damaged and dry and most probably u will have to cut half of it
