Can you dye black hair without bleaching it?

A while ago I dyed my hair black. So it is not natural. I'm getting a little sick of the black, so I wanted to dye it again. But I definitely don't want to bleach it, because i know how bad that is for your hair. I know if it is natural black than you would have to bleach it before dying it. Is it different if it is not natural? Or so I still need to bleach it?Can you dye black hair without bleaching it?
You have to bleach it though I wouldn't recommend it.


It will be harder since your hair isn't a natural black, like you said you colored it that color. Black is hard to get rid of simply because well... once you go black, you never go back; 100% anyway!


It will damage your hair severely because trying to lift the black will not just happen in one easy step. The first time, it will turn orangy, be very brassy. NOT a pretty color.


And that depends if you only have your natural color underneath, If you've experimented with other colors and dyed your hair more than once within 1-2yrs, the bleach will lift to other colors you've put in your hair. Which will result in an uneven tone.


And after you do that, well you hair will never be one solid color. You will have multiple tones.


Anything that you buy at sally's, you have to make sure someone who knows exactly what they're doing apply it for you. And when it says, ';for black hair'; means for NATURAL black hair, and yours isn't.


The only way to get the desired look is to go to a professional salon to someone who actually has a license in it, not just a friend who thinks she can do it.

Nope, needs to be bleached, my hair took 3 bleachings before it was blonde enough to add a blonde tint colour to it, goes ginger after the first bleach too!


Oh and hairdressers usually won't touch it either!

you could but i tried it and mine came out orange. you have to go to a salon and get it professionally done if you want the right results. and if you do it out of the box, you are going to damage your hair

Nope. Color won't lift color. You need to lighten your hair before you color it, or it won't take.
you will have to use bleach to go lighter at any time
