Why is long black hair coming out of my exhaust pipe?

It's creepy. More than a headful of long black hair has come out of the exhaust pipe in the last few days. I added some cleaning gunk to the carburetor last week. Could this be the cause?Why is long black hair coming out of my exhaust pipe?

It's the packing material from inside your silencer


It means the internals have rotted away and the glass fibre sound deadening material is exposes to the hot exhaust gasses. you've a matter of a few days before it starts coming out in huge clumps and then the exhaust note will change and then it will all fall out and there will be no insides to the baffles.


time to buy a new exhaust.

Hair should not even be in your engine system at all. I do not think it is hair, and you need to take your car to a reliable mechanic to see what's going on.

There should not be anything like that in your exhaust. Maybe something went into the muffler and died.
