Thanks in advance. Is it permitted to use black hair dye for young persons Islam?
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu 脕layhi Wasallam) said, ';There will be people who will come later (in my Ummah) and apply black dye. They will not even smell the fragrance of paradise.'; (Abu Daawood).
Pure black dye is not permissible. However, it is permissible for a Mujaahid (warrior) to apply black dye in order to give the impression of being young. (Jawahirul Fiqh vol2 pg 421)
To dye the hair any other colour besides black e.g. Mehndi or Katm (type of grass) is permissible. This was the practice of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu 脕layhi Wasallam) and the Sahaaba (Radhiyallaahu 脕nhum). (Jawahirul Fiqh vol2 pg 421)
Although some scholars are of the opinion that if you have premature gray then you can dye your hair black. Anyway, to avoid the difference amongst the scholars why don't you use dark brown hair dye (it is practically the same as black and you cannot tell the difference). Is it permitted to use black hair dye for young persons Islam?
