Is there any possible way to dye out black hair?

My natural hair colour is medium brown, and for quite a few months now I've been dying my hair black. However, I now want a change. I'd like to dye it dark brown with a red undertone, but I've heard stripping your hair can totally screw it up.

Is there anyway to like, dye over this black?

Or will I have to strip my hair? Thanks. Is there any possible way to dye out black hair?
using stripper will ruin your hair.

sounds funny but try washing your hair with a cheap washing up liquid, it strips the colour, you will have to keep repeating and you wont get to your natural colour but it will strip some of the colour. it will also dry out your hair a bit (but wont be as bad as using a stripper) so make sure you get a good hair treatment to use after and i would say you should leave it on over night!

good luck!Is there any possible way to dye out black hair?
your best bet is to just let the roots grow on out and gradually get it cut.you messed up dyeing your hair and wanting to keep changeing it.if you want someone to agree with your question then you will screw up your hair totally.your hair may just fall out.maybe in like two weeks get a semi color.also remember it being almost summertime you should've took the anneciative and let your hair get its color back when the winter was about over with.as for me i get perms in the fall and winter and highlights in the spring and summer.so as for you try 6mths. dark and let it gradually dye out and then the other 6mths a lighter shade if you want.you must think for yourself when the appropriate time hits to do your hair.if you hair grows fast then maybe small cuts only til you're ready to dye your hair lighter.
Bleach and color stripper are both damaging to your hair. You have to deep condition after wards. You will need to strip your hair because the chances of bleach lightening your hair are slim. Stripping your hair only prepares it to be colored again. It takes hours but if you want your hair lighter bad enough then it's worth the time. I did and I'm quite pleased with the results. I went from a level 2 (one step from true black) to a level 5 (it's a red brown).
No. You can't color over black hair, because it won't take. You have to bleach your hair in order for it to lighten(Or strip. Same thing, Different techniques.).
