My hair is naturally dark brown but it's dyed black, I've been colouring it blue-black for over a year now. I want my hair to be a really intense bright red but my hairdresser refuses to do it. She says that even if I get the black stripped out it's still too dark. She also says that if I bleach it before dying it red then my hair will be ruined. I'm tempted to risk it by doing it myself anyway but I know she's right. Is there any other way I could go red?How do I go from black hair to red?
dye itHow do I go from black hair to red?
strip it yourself and then after 24 hours you can dye it, I've done it for my significant other and there were no problems
there is this hair gel that make your hair red, and at the end of the day or two it just washes out and your hair is back. try that, they sell it in the hairstores. i think its ice or something. i use green ;)
hair extensions? thats what i got, my hair is dark dark brown as well, but bleachin it is VERY risky. i know this girl whos hair was brunette, and dyed it from jet black, blonde, then brown agen. she looks almost bold now. i use clip-in hair extensions, i got it in bright pink, red and dirty denim. so i can have all 3 colours in my hair. but i still prefer it to be dyed.
dye it or get advise from a hairdresser...
dip it in the red paint
Bleaching and Pre-lightening are differenet things. If you get a Pre-Lightener (the make LIVE do a good one - trust me, I use it) which will make it go VERY light, and then dye it red, it will not only work but you will have a dramatic effect, and your hair will absorb the exact colour on the top of the box.
It's easy to use, and you can easily do it yourself, or get a friend to do it - there's no need for a hairdresser, and honestly, it WON'T damage your hair! And, you'll only have to bleach it once, because after that, as long as you stick to the same shade, and don't have any highlights, you can just keep dying it red! :-D
Trust me hon, I've done it! ;-)
This is the website for LIVE colour. You can get it almost anywhere, I'm sure you've seen it on TV even. It works great...
You could gradually tone your hair down until it was brown again and then get her to make it red (go to a different hair dressers so that she doesn't know u had black) but im no hairdresser
i hope it goes well
long live reds
Try henna. It's natural.
you need to bleach you hair first and then dye it red. That's what i had to do
You would have to have your hair lifted first...but I'd reccommend you have it done by a professional. Bleaching your hair on your own could have nasty results...especially if you've never done it before. Bleaching wont necessarily ruin your hair if you have it treated. GOOD LUCK, or you could be setting a ';bald'; fashion statement...LOL.
well heres all i can say... FORGET YOUR HAIR DRESSER!!! thatd her type of style... if she starts talking you in to not doing it then tell her just do it please and show your hair dresser how you really are girl... you gotta get over HER feelings...
your best adive...michaela
Listen to your hairdresser....you'll be sorry if you have damaged hair and the wrong color as well!
Cut it short and wait it out.
And think about more temporary coloring if you like change????
go see another hairdresser
get a second opinion you will probably have some damage but if it is done right it won't be bad
maybe go back to your origanal color first wait a couple weeks then go for the red
NO. Listen to your hair stylist! Color will not LIFT color. That means you will have to bleach your hair to med/light blonde and then apply the red. More than likely, it will come out bright orange if you do it at home. Please, listen to your stylist. Ask her to take you 1 shade lighter everytime. She can easily do this with a bleach soap cap. This way is much much more gentle on your hair, and as long as you have some patience, you can get your red eventually!
just die it the red u want it to be and that will look good
well my friend had black hair once and wanted to die her hair blonde so she put the blonde die on her black hair and it came out red there as simple as that!! lol
get a wig
its your choice not ya hairdresser even thou she takes care of your hair if u wanna die it thats u know one else
I hear Koolaid was popular in the past. :)
dye it !!! ;)
color it.
gradually change the colours by colouring it different colours step by step
Get the particular color of red you desire, then get what is called 'hair booster'. You can get it at many drug stores and hair care stores. It's in a small red packet. You don't need that much, but add it to the color before you mix it. It should come out fine.
OK if you haven't perm your hair in the last past 2-3 weeks you can put a blonde in your hair that's a bottle of 30 peroxide and pack of hair lightener. And buy a bright red rinse to but on your hair once your hair is blonde and bright enough for you. If you want your entire head red you must but the blonde all of it. The rinse it out and but the red rinse on it.

I think wait for your natural brown to come back then die it a lighter brown and then go for a red. Ask a professional there ARE ways around this
i dyed my hair black by mistake, i normally dye it dark brown which is the colour it is naturally but i do it to cover the grey which started coming when i was 16! my hairdresser said to try to strip the colour i could make a paste out of washing powder and a little water, work it into the hair and rinse it out loads, i would follow your hairdressers advice about bleaching your hair, why dont you try lo lights or get a watermelon red to put over your natural colour, your hair wont be red but will have a lovely red lustre! good luck. x
Cut it short and wait for your natural color to come back, then go from there
A wig while your hair returns to its normal color
I suggest trying to reach your natural colour again. Wait for it to fade out gradually and each time you decide to colour your hair go for a shade lighter. It should be easier to achieve the red you want. Maybe try another hairdressers and see what they suggest. Maybe they can give it a bleach bath, this will stip all the colour out therefore allowing and making it easier to have the red ;-)
